Gulf Bank Wins Coveted GCC Localization Award for the 7th Consecutive Year

Kuwait, 23 October 2011:  Gulf Bank announced today that it has achieved an unprecedented accomplishment by winning the coveted Localization Award for the seventh consecutive year from the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs.  A senior team from Gulf Bank’s Human Resources Department received the Localization Award at an event hosted by the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on the 19th October 2011.

Mr. Surour Alsamerai, General Manager of Human Resources at Gulf Bank said: “We are very proud to mark this unique achievement for Kuwait.  This award endorses our long-term strategy of recruiting, developing and retaining Kuwaiti talent and investing in community initiatives that encourage young people to join the banking sector.  It is also a testament to the efforts of our Human Resources team and senior management in building a strong, well-trained base of Kuwaiti talent.

We believe Gulf Bank has an important responsibility in the banking industry and the entire private sector to retain and encourage local talent, as well as invest in their future. No other bank in Kuwait has been able to match our record or the strength of our commitment and we will continue to work hard to maintain our leading position.”

The award reflects Gulf Bank’s ability to overcome challenges which is demonstrated by its exemplary success in surpassing expectations. The Bank has focused on recruiting and developing a highly talented workforce throughout the years, assisting it in becoming one of the leading institutions in the GCC, and therefore reinforcing the significance of this achievement for the Bank and the Kuwaiti people.

The award further reflects the Bank’s excellence in localization, demonstrating a commitment to developing careers for Kuwaitis within the Bank, and highlights Gulf Bank’s continuous efforts in achieving and maintaining one of the highest employment percentages of Kuwaiti nationals across the private sector, as well as being the first Kuwaiti bank to achieve this status.
