- What is 2 Factor Authentication?
Answer:
2 Factor Authentication (TFA, T-FA or 2FA) is an authentication process to verify your identity when you log in to Online Banking. It?s a process that adds even more security for your online banking accounts and helps prevent fraud. The process requires you to present two authentication factors when you log in:
The factors are:
Something you know (eg: secret answers, passwords, PIN)
Something you have (a passport, civil ID, ATM Card)
- How can I register for this feature?
Answer:
All Gulf Bank Online Banking Customers will be prompted to register when they log in to Online Banking. New online banking customers will be prompted on sign up to Online Banking.
You can register by visiting our website at www.e-gulfbank.com and choosing Personal Online Banking under Login. You will need to follow the steps after entering your login name.
- Why should I register?
Answer:
This is a new process that makes your online banking more secure. Everyone must register.
- Will I be charged for registration?
Answer:
No, registration is free of charge.
- Will my home page change?
Answer:
No, your home page will remain the same; however you will have 2 extra steps during the login process ? but this is a one time process only!
- Is it a lengthy process?
Answer:
No, it will take you only 5 minutes.
- Should my password be complicated?
Answer:
Passwords do not need to be complicated; it must be strong and should not be easily recognizable. It may be alphanumeric (mix of numbers and letters in uppercase, lowercase characters).
- What other ways can I ensure that my computer is secure?
Answer:
Ensure your computer is updated by using an up-to-date web browser, anti-virus software, block unwanted spam email (it would also reduce phishing emails), and do not disclose your personal information or password to anyone.
- What is the difference?
Answer:
The first part is that you will need to choose an image from the list displayed and enter a phrase. The second part is setting up answers for 5 security questions. The third part is deciding if you want the Bank to remember your device or not.
- What identity will it store?
Answer:
Every computer has an address called IP (Internet Protocol) address, this IP address will be stored in our system to ensure that the next time you login you are recognized.
- Will there be any difference in login if I request to remember my device?
Answer:
The steps to login are the same, however the difference when logging in from an un-remembered devise is that:
a. You will be asked to choose the correct image and phrase from the set of 3 displayed images ; and
b. You will be asked 1 security question that needs to be answered correctly before requesting you to enter your ATM PIN and password.
If you login from a registered device, the image and phrase that you have chosen will be displayed for your confirmation and you will be requested to answer only 1 question correctly before you are requested to enter your ATM PIN and password.
