• What is an EMV chip card?
  Answer: An EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) chip card is a card issued by Gulf Bank that is embedded with an electronic chip that has enhanced security against fraud.
• How is it different from my current card?
  Answer:

  The only difference between your current card and the EMV chip card will be that your card(s) will now contain an embedded technology chip – you will continue to have the magnetic stripe on your card.
• How will I benefit from the EMV chip card?
  Answer:

  You will benefit from added security, as EMV chip cards are difficult to replicate.
• How do I use my EMV chip card?
  Answer:

  You shall use your card as you usually do. The only difference being that at the time of purchasing at the point of sale machine, the merchant shall dip the chip in the machine to verify the transaction. Using your card at ATMs will be exactly the same.
• Does this new EMV chip card mean that my old magnetic card was not safe and secure?
  Answer:

  No – it means that the EMV chip card is an enhancement of an already safe and secure payment system.  This is the next new, advanced, safe and reliable step in payments both locally and internationally.
• Will I be able to use my EMV chip card outside of Kuwait?
  Answer:

  Of course – this is a new global standard that many countries have already taken on board – your Gulf Bank chip card will be compliable with these systems.
  
  
• What if my card is lost or stolen?
  Answer:

  If your card is lost or stolen, contact 805 805 immediately or +965 2444 383 if you are abroad to report it missing

  
  
  
• When will I receive my Gulf Bank EMV chip card?
  Answer:

  Your current cards will be replaced with the new EMV chip card – at no extra cost to you – in due course.  Our dedicated staff will contact you, or please visit your branch for any assistance or queries.
  
  

  
  
  
• Will it cost me anything to switch to the new EMV chip card?
  Answer:

  No – there will be no extra cost to you for this enhanced service from Gulf Bank.

  
  
  
• Do I have a choice whether to take an EMV chip card or not?
  Answer:

  This policy is in accordance to the Central Bank of Kuwait and will be to your benefit to switch to a Gulf Bank EMV chip card
