What's a Datathon?
A Datathon is a fast paced competitive event where participants gather to solve practical problems through the application of data science tools and techniques, by working together in teams to generate insights, visualizations and potential solutions.
Gulf Bank Datathon is powered by CODED.
Who is it for?
We encourage everyone interested in data and analytics to join the Datathon! Learn something new, maybe even change your career in the process of learning how to navigate the tools used in the Datathon.
Skills are a plus, but are not mandatory as Gulf Bank is giving free educational workshops in all tools used during the Datathon.
The only requirement to compete is to be above the age of 18.
Why Is Gulf Bank Hosting A Datathon?
Gulf Bank is holding the first Datathon in the country, aiming to foster content creators with data and analytics skills and to build a data culture in the tech community in Kuwait.

Data Modeling and Visualization
Provided with a banking dataset, find actionable insights and make predictions using data modeling techniques.
If you have a coding background or interests in Python, R or any other scripting language, this track is for you. Also, you will use your findings to create an interesting Visualization using Tableau or other visualization techniques.
Data tells a story! Use the dataset provided to show us what the data is saying; uncover trends, visualize insights into a beautiful dashboard.
If you’re interested in turning data into artistic visualization, this is for you! You don’t need a background in coding, just an eye for visual insights; as the Tableau workshop that we’ll host will enable you with the Tableau skills you need.
Websites and Mobile apps tell a lot about customer behavior. Using website and app data, the challenge will be to answer questions about customer behavior, and visualize insights with a dashboard.
If you’re interested in websites, mobile apps or online customer behavior, this is your track.
Each team should consist of 2-3 members.
Each project must utilize the dataset provided for your track, and must demonstrate appropriate use of data science methods.
All work must be conducted by the team members. The team may ask provided mentors for guidance, but not for direct solutions.
We believe in the importance of respect for all ideas and opinions. Any form of harassment will result in exclusion from the datathon.
Remember, there’s no losing in Gulf Bank’s Datathon. You will either win or learn. Gulf Bank data experts will help you get ready for each challenge track through a hands-on learning workshop.
