Gulf Bank Launches Awareness Video to Promote Culture of Cybersecurity

As part of its support for the Diraya campaign

As part of its commitment to social responsibility and as part of its ongoing efforts to support the Diraya campaign for the second year in a row, Gulf Bank has launched an introductory video highlighting the role of customers in safeguarding their banking information and how to avoid becoming a victim of online fraud.

 

The Bank was keen to add an element of educational entertainment to the video through the inclusion of lyrical scenes starring Abdulmohsen Al-Qaffas. The video aims to spread a culture of cybersecurity and financial literacy among the public and instill the Diraya campaign’s goals in people’s minds.

 

"The success of Gulf Bank videos for national events and holidays in touching the hearts of the public has encouraged us to take advantage of what we do best and support the Diraya campaign’s goals with a video done with the same artistic value," said Najla Aleisa, Gulf Bank’s Deputy General Manager of Consumer Banking - Marketing Department.

 

She added: “Based on its distinctive banking position, Gulf Bank is keen to protect customers and warn them against falling into the clutches of hackers and fraudsters who are constantly changing the ways in which they prey on customers’ accounts — either by text messages or emails or by impersonating bank employees over the phone. We urge customers not to interact with these types of fraudulent messages and calls and not to answer any information regarding their bank accounts.”

 

Aleisa praised the role of the Diraya campaign, which was launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in partnership with the Kuwait Banking Association, due to its awareness-raising role on several issues that concern customers and affect their cybersecurity. She continued, “I would like to take this opportunity to remind customers that banks will not request your personal information by email, text messages, or phone call. We would like to advise everyone to avoid all fraudulent messages and calls and to report them immediately to the bank."
