as Part of Its Design and Sustainability Engagement Series

In line with its commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, Gulf Bank successfully concluded a creative workshop focused on furniture recycling and upcycling, transforming used pieces into innovative and functional art forms. The workshop was held as part of the Bank’s Design and Sustainability Engagement Series, an initiative aimed at raising awareness, building practical skills, and encouraging responsible lifestyle choices through hands-on community experiences. The session was conducted in collaboration with Kuwaiti interior designer Aisha Qurainees.

The workshop witnessed strong participation from Gulf Bank customers and members of the wider community, who benefited from a practical and interactive learning experience. Participants explored creative techniques to reimagine and repurpose old furniture, demonstrating how discarded items can be transformed into aesthetically appealing and functional pieces, reinforcing the value of upcycling as a sustainable alternative to disposal.

Through this initiative, Gulf Bank aims to promote a culture of sustainability, creativity, and lifelong learning, while actively engaging the community in environmental dialogue. The workshop highlighted the importance of responsible consumption and production, encouraging participants to rethink waste and adopt practices that reduce environmental impact.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to responsible consumption and production, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action, reflecting Gulf Bank’s commitment to supporting global sustainability objectives through locally driven, high-impact initiatives.

Gulf Bank continues to place strong emphasis on embedding environmental sustainability standards across its programs and operations. These efforts include recycling initiatives, encouraging the use of reusable alternatives, and launching innovative projects that enhance resource efficiency and minimize waste. The Bank praised the enthusiasm and creativity demonstrated by participants, noting that community-led engagement plays a vital role in translating sustainability principles into everyday practices.

This workshop forms part of Gulf Bank’s broader Design and Sustainability Engagement Series, which underscores the Bank’s ongoing commitment to community development, environmental awareness, and creative innovation. Through this series, Gulf Bank seeks to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to make more sustainable choices, while fostering collaboration between experts, creatives, and the community.
