Preventing Fraud

  • If your card is lost or stolen or you don't recognize a transaction on your statement, please contact the Bank by calling one of the above numbers to notify the CCC.

  • Change your password frequently to increase your secure banking experience.

  • If it is suspected that your card has been compromised, the Bank will immediately contact you to verify that you have made the recent transactions with it; this is why it is imperative that your personal details are kept up-to-date.

  • Gulf Bank will never text you or email to ask for your debit Card PIN number.

  • Gulf Bank will never text you or email you to ask for your credit card CW/CVC.

Secured Online Access and Password Security

  • Ensure that you delete emails from un-trusted sources without opening them.

  • Ensure to use anti-virus and spyware protection on your computer. This will constantly scan your computer to detect and remove viruses and spyware that can harm it and steal your personal details.

  • Ensure that any software you are downloading is well-known and from a trusted and reputable source.

  • Use secure accessible wireless connections that require a password.

  • Use different passwords that are hard to obtain for different websites you regularly access.

  • When accessing the internet in a public place, be aware of your surroundings while entering passwords or personal details.

  • When using a shared computer, ensure that you select "No" when a site asks if you would like your password to be remembered for your next visit.

  • When using any social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter, it is best to avoid providing any of your personal details.

  • Do not trust anyone with your password, login details or user name. Constantly update all your passwords.

  • Log off all websites that you are using before leaving a computer.

  • Log off all online banking sites before visiting any other websites.

  • Choose a password that consists of a mix of alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, and 0-9). The password should not be related to any personal data such as the client's name, address, telephone number, date of birth, passport number, etc., or must not be easily guessed in terms of combination of letters and numbers; commit the password to memory and not record it in a written or electronic form; never let any unauthorized person obtain access to the relevant computer; and never leave the computer unattended while having logged onto Gulf Bank Online Banking acknowledge the importance of using the virtual keyboard in online banking. Follow Gulf Bank Rules and Regulations concerning the new security process and fraud protection programs and updates.

Online Shopping Security Tips

  • When shopping online, do not provide your card details to retailers by email.

  • When making purchases to be shipped to an address different from your billing address, it is advised that you notify the Bank to ensure your transaction's approval.

  • Ensure that you shop with reputable businesses to easily solve any issues you may face.

  • Ensure that you print or keep electronic copies of your receipts.

  • Ensure that the prefix 'https://' and the padlock icon in the bottom corner of the browser both appear on the website you are using as it is a signification of it being secure.

Secured Cards Network

  • When entering your PIN at a checkout or at an ATM machine, ensure that the PIN pad is shielded by you.

  • When using an ATM machine, ensure that you check for any signs of intervention such as the card slot being tampered with.

  • When using the ATM machine, never accept any help from strangers. Do not leave your card or PIN in an easily reached place for thieves.

  • Ensure that you select a PIN number that is easy to remember but not easy for others to find out. You can select a preferred PIN number at any Gulf Bank ATM machine.

  • Ensure that you enroll to Gulf Bank's Online Banking so you can check your statements regularly and ensure your ATM PIN has not been compromised.

  • Try to memorize your PIN and ensure it is kept safe and separate from your card.

  • Be aware that retailers may ask for any credit card details but not for your PIN.
